I’m Summer Brighton, and these are my sons, Jayden and Joseph.

After 20+ years in real estate, creative direction, and property management, I just completed two years of trucking around the country as a moving meditation to get clarity on what’s next. It’s time to activate the next phase of REALM.

What is REALM?

“It takes a REALM.”

This is rooted in the African proverb:

“It takes a village to raise a child.”

REALM is a handy dandy acronym for Real Estate, Ecosystem, Art, Livelihood, and Momentum. Think of it as similar to Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, but a torus field rather than a pyramid.

REALM means:

A person needs to feel at home in their body in a safe and stable environment (Real Estate),

surrounded by cohesive and healthy family, friends, and fellows interconnected with flora and fauna (Ecosystem),

to be able to develop their own personal gifts and proclivities (Art),

that can be constructively shared with the community around them (Livelihood),

to create a flow of mutual contribution and rejuvenation as a community (Momentum).

Many ancestral practices are solutions to our modern problems.

Food forests and silvopasture (animals as a part of the food forest) incorporate trees and multiple levels of planting onto one piece of land.

Multigenerational, micro-community living with separate dwellings but shared resources build strong systems and healthy people.

A holistic approach to health considering body, mind, soul, in harmony with flora, fauna, and land, cultivates sustainability and general well-being.

I am continuing to make music (I always will), getting certified in healing practices to share with my community (currently: Yoga, Sound Healing, and Quantum Healing Hypnosis Therapy), and I am developing plans with a team for sustainable, affordable housing.

Imagine these REALMstars created from either shipping containers, pre-fabricated structures, 3D printers, or other sustainable materials. Power, water and waste to each dwelling are clustered in the center of the star. Surrounded by edible landscaping and powered by the sun, they will be low cost and provide organic nutrition to residents and caretakers. Our initial focus will be serving low income families, people in recovery, kids that age out of the foster system, and our unhoused brothers and sisters.
